Unique opportunity because of double replacement
Due to the unexpected hospital admission of both conductor Mariss Jansons and pianist Maurizio Pollini, it is impossible for them to participate in the European Gala on Friday, 17 September. However, the musicians who will be replacing them are famous in their own right: Bernard Haitink and Till Fellner!
So, there is no need to worry, as this is definitely a prestigious replacement! The last time Bernard Haitink performed at the Centre for Fine Arts was in September 2001. We are therefore highly delighted to be able to welcome him again. He is and remains one of the most outstanding interpreters of the Bruckner symphonies, as demonstrated by his extensive career and countless recordings. In addition, he knows the Koninklijk Concertgebouworkest (Royal Concert Building Orchestra) like the back of his hand. And what can we say about the young, but already famous Austrian pianist Till Fellner? For a few years now, he has been travelling around the world carrying the Beethoven sonatas in his suitcase. He is therefore certainly the ideal interpreter for the Grand Master’sThird Piano Concerto.
